A semisynthetic derivative of podophyllotoxin, teniposide is chemically related to etoposide (VePesid - Medical Letter, 26:48, 1984).

Astemizole (Hismanal - Janssen), a new antihistamine, was recently marketed in the USA for treatment of seasonal allergic rhinitis and chronic idiopathic urticaria. The FDA has approved istradefylline (Nourianz — Kyowa Kirin), an oral adenosine A_2A receptor antagonist, for use as an adjunct to carbidopa/levodopa in adults with Parkinson's disease (PD) who experience "off" episodes. Istradefylline is the first adenosine A_2A receptor antagonist to be approved in the US; it has been available in Japan since 2013.

The FDA has amended its Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Paxlovid (Pfizer), the investigational oral antiviral drug nirmatrelvir copackaged with oral ritonavir, to allow for it to be prescribed by licensed pharmacists in certain situations. Paxlovid is authorized for oral treatment of mild to moderate COVID-19 in high-risk outpatients ≥12 years old who weigh at least 40 kg.
